7 Tips to Build Healthy Habits For Life

ou are only one decision from living a healthy life and that is to make a beginning.

Now, in the times of a pandemic, seems an apt time to say this. Not because there is something magical about making healthy decisions now, but only because we all are more concerned about our health and wellbeing.

One of the most important things that makes or breaks our decision to start is consistency. This is one of the main reasons why we have meal subscriptions versus one off orders.

Does this mean you should go on a diet?

We all know that diets don't work. Most diets are unhealthy and unscientific. We are not getting all our required nutrition, and not eating enough. This leaves us hungry, tried and irritable. Over time, this leads to severe cravings, with no way of managing them, leading to binging.

Diets will not create the lasting change you wish to see in your life.

The key to healthy living is exactly that - living healthy. Now this may not sound groundbreaking, but it's often the simple things that are the hardest to do. Focus on building habits that last a lifetime.

👉🏼 Here are some ways to not only start, but also build and keep the momentum going.

🥙 Start with what is easy for you. This may be different for different people. Adding a fruit everyday, switching to whole grains, reducing meat and dairy are some good places to begin.

🏃🏻‍♀️ Pace Yourself. Get comfortable with one or two new habits before adding more. Doing too many things at once can be overwhelming.

🧘🏻 Focus on Consistency. It's easier to do something over-the-top once than to do something small regularly. The latter gives better results than the former.

🥒 Stock up on healthy food. Always have some fresh seasonal fruit handy. Buy healthy snacks and sugar free desserts and sweets to replace packaged processed ones. Remember when you are craving, you will reach out to what is closest to you, keep healthy options ready always.

👨🏽‍💻 Build your Knowledge. This is so important. We live in a world of information overload and most of it is not grounded in research. It's important for every one of us to learn the basics from sound sources such as www.nutritionfacts.org and www.nutritionscience.in.

This is the key to lasting change

🏃🏻‍♀️ Keep the momentum going. After we make one or two changes, it is very likely that we stop there because the other stuff is too hard or we just get lazy.

👨🏻‍🍳 Have fun creating new recipes, trying out new ways of making old favourites and building a healthy relationship with food.
